Tony Alves is co-founder of Scholarly Publishing Solutions, a consulting firm focused on scholarly communications best practices, editorial workflow, and peer review. He was previously SVP of Product Management at HighWire Press overseeing a suite of SaaS platform and analytics products; and Product Director at Aries Systems, responsible for the product development of the Editorial Manager submission system. Tony has worked in STM publishing since 1990 focusing on digital publishing and workflow management. Tony is involved in promoting industry standardization, system-to-system communications protocols and other industry shared services. Tony is involved in multiple industry initiatives including the NISO Manuscript Exchange Common Approach recommended practice, and the STM Research Integrity Hub. Tony has organized conference sessions and webinars on topics such as industry standards, editorial services, artificial intelligence, social media, and ethics.
